Easy Art

I've been working on sprucing up Youngest Daughter's room and needed a "little something" for one of her walls. Emphasis on "little." Nothing pricey but still bright, cheery, and fun.

YD loves kitties, so I had picked up this adorable calendar after the first of the year when the bookstores are practically begging you to take them off their hands. Right away I found 3 kitty pics that I knew she would love up on her wall.

Now, how to frame them? Hobby Lobby had the answer for me. Something I'd never heard of before, but then I'm probably the last one to discover these! Clip frames. So easy, and a great way to quickly and inexpensively frame up a few little kitties to brighten a blank wall.

There are four clips that hold the glass, picture, and chipboard backing together, and they unclip easily.

Then it's just a matter of laying the glass over your picture and marking what you need to cut off.

Crop off the excess.

Sandwich the backing, picture, and glass, and reattach the clips.

How easy is that? At this point I thought the picture was a little bland, and you can see the hole from the calendar up at the top. So, why not up the "cuteness" factor a little and cover the clips and the annoying hole?

Conveniently in my scrapbooking stash (from those faraway days when I actually thought I would take the time to scrapbook) I found some bright, cheerful buttons and hot-glued them on right over the clips. They can be easily popped off if you wanted to change out the pictures.

And it's done! Wouldn't this type of frame be perfect for a child's art? Right there hanging in their room . . . or the kitchen . . . or the hallway, their very own art that could be changed out easily at any time!

Here are the 3 finished kitties, ready to hang on Youngest Daughter's wall. Very simple, very inexpensive, guaranteed to bring a smile! (You can't see the glass, but I can assure you it's there.)

I'll show you what they look like when they're hung in another post. I got a little creative idea I want to try, so if it all comes together and looks like anything worth admitting to, I'll post it this week. Those are very big "if's"!!
